Sarah von Pollaro, owner of Urban Petals Floral Design, created Flower Empowered to promote her belief that anyone on any budget can create gorgeous, long-lasting floral designs.  All you need are:

Sarah’s passion for flowers began when arranging them with her grandmother as a young girl. Years later, between semesters at Yale University, she apprenticed with two top designers in Manhattan who had been trained by the renowned French florist Christian Tortu. Although a promising young designer, she first chose to pursue a career in affordable housing development.  Always finding joy in arranging, she launched Urban Petals in 2004; it quickly grew into one of Washington’s premier florists.

Sarah’s designs have adorned the White House, the Kennedy Center, and the Macy’s Flower Show.   She has taught thousands of people the basics of floral design in a fun and simple way and has been called the Julia Child of flowers as she demystifies the classical art of floral arranging.
